Public Service Announcement: To get your chicken laying again, feed them RED CABBAGE.

My chicken started Laying again!

My chickens hadn’t been laying since September… (feed scandal).
Even after taking them off feed for months, giving them more grazing area and giving lot of extra kitchen scraps, they weren’t starting laying again.

Then I followed Frogsprings tip and tried to feed them Raw Red Cabbage, they were uninterested..
I took a few leaves, put them in a pan with a bit of water and cooked them until softer.
I then minced then cabbage, poured the cabbage water onto some oats to ensure no nutrients were lost and fed it to them.

After maybe 2 days of this added Red Cabbage diet, they ALL started laying again.

PS. I was also recommended Kalmbach feed by someone else, BUT their head office is in Ohio, so I guess their mill, water and feed source are located there too. So I did NOT go with that feed.
